Traditional mail order brides have been replaced by beautiful email order wives.
Even for the wealthiest American men, marrying a Russian or Brazilian woman with model attractiveness and professional education is fairly easy. The Internet has simplified the method of finding a woman who is younger, taller, prettier, smarter, sexier, and better-educated than one can attract at home.
The Web lets anyone search through thousands of possible brides in seconds – no matter where she is in the world.
While I consider this to be the golden age of email order brides – and not a means for nerdy or cruel adult men to exploit impoverished or compliant females – I think the opportunity will be dying within 5 to 10 years.
Here’s why:
1. Oil
Governments hide the ball when it comes to oil reserves, peak oil, and future prices for gasoline. We can’t know how high costs will go.
Electricity can be produced for your home or electric car from photo voltaic, wind, or geothermal sources, but airplanes need aviation fuel. Thousands of pounds of fuel.
Worldwide travel by passenger jet could become extremely expensive and out of the reach of a typical man looking for a mail order bride.
2. IMBRA
The International Marriage Broker Regulation Act of 2005 (IMBRA) demands background checks on American men looking to file immigrant or fiancee visa petitions for foreign women – if they met through an international marriage agency.
Some dating agencies (Yahoo!, Match.com) are exempt.
An International Marriage Broker (IMB) is an entity – U.S. or foreign based – that offers matchmaking or social referrals connecting U.S. citizens/permanent residents and foreign nationals for a fee.
Passed in the wake of the Anastasia King murder allegedly to protect foreign brides, all it does is take away privacy, free speech, and freedom of assembly from American men.
International Marriage Brokers are required to:
- search U.S. sex offender public registries for information on the U.S. clients
- collect criminal and marital background information on the American man, including how prior marriages ended
- provide this information to the foreign fiancee in her native language
- provide foreign clients with a government produced pamphlet describing her legal rights in the U.S.
- obtain the foreign client’s signed consent to give her personal information to the U.S. client
- limit of 2 fiance(e) visa petitions with at least 2 years between filings
All of these limitations apply to IMB prearranged matches, so there are many ways around the law.
As the world economy gets worse, anticipate even more restrictive immigration laws.
Since passage of IMBRA, foreign brides have been killed – by husbands who met their brides via exempt agencies.
Unless you take steps to shield yourself, as an American man looking for a mail order bride, your efforts to bring in a foreign fiance(e) can be hindered.
No state investigates American men for disclosure to American women prior to issuance of a marriage license. And you have that annoying Constitution (what’s left of it).
Good intentions often create bad law. And I’m not even convinced of the good intentions in the case of IMBRA.
If gay marriage becomes law and opens same-sex spouses to immigration benefits, you can expect Congress to make it exceptionally difficult for anyone to bring a spouse home.
Find your Russian, Colombian, or Filipina mail order wife before it turns into an impractical ordeal.
3. American Men Are Still Valued Abroad
For a lot of foreign women, American husbands are nevertheless considered a superior catch and a desirable match. Go figure.
I’m not positive if I am thrilled or terrified.
Many foreign women view American men as better husbands, and not merely on a financial level. Hollywood movies showing women’s equality in marriage and relationships have no doubt added to the perceptions.
After a pair of divorces, I have become more jaded regarding marriage. As an alternative of falling into a relationship, why not search for precisely what you crave without neighborhood fix-ups or sorting through women in bars.
My suggestions:
For more youthful men, women from Russia, the Ukraine, and the former Soviet Republics, are the sexiest and most desirable females on the planet.
Go for it. Don’t apologize or compromise. One will discover so many who are the right age, well-educated, and whose looks blow you away.
Caveat – examine the age spreads. For Russian women, 10 to 15 years younger will work fine. A larger age disparity could be risky.
For older or more traditional gentlemen, nothing beats the Philippines. Filipinas are the most pious, family oriented females I have ever lived among.
Young brides are less of an issue in the Philippines. A Filipina will stay married as long as she can. While a Vice-Consul in Manila, I approved visas for brides 50+ years younger than their American husbands.
For men who receive retirement pensions or Social Security, I would mull over retiring in the Philippines with a young spouse. Immigration goes both ways. And a “fixed income” in the P.I. is a wonderful thing.
Golden Age of Worldwide Dating and eMail Order Brides:
I believe the window for finding your mail order wife could close within 5 to 10 years. Act before costs and added government rules further curb your freedom.
You will never have a higher position in the minds of international brides to be.
Women of such beauty and grace may not be available to American men as the world economy disintegrates.
You have never been more able to uncover and make contact with the right woman for you without all of the societal and cultural boundaries of the past.
Before governments and busybodies once again interfere in the process of love, marriage, and family, grab your wonderful mail order wife.
